Katrina Spratford

Katie joined NE Distance in the fall of 2013 after an illustrious career at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania where she was an 8-time All-American. In 2012 she was the PSAC Women’s Cross Country Champion and a year later she was the 2013 Shippensburg Female Athlete of the Year. Katie graduated cum laude from Shippensburg in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and sought to continue post-collegiate racing.

Her time with the NE Distance team has been met with passion and commitment towards positively contributing back to the Providence community through her running. Despite being the only female member of the team, Katrina has made large strides in posting faster times than her collegiate days. She posted a Top Ten finish at the 2015 Mayor’s Cup Cross Country Championships, finishing in 4th place behind noted professionals Liz Costello and Mary Cain and Boston College runner Liv Westphal. Behind Westphal, Katie has also ran to a runner-up finish at the USATF New England Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park. While representing the team and Saucony, Katie has posted PRs in the 10,000 meter run (33:10.5) and the 5,000 meter run (16:08) at the Stanford Invitational and Adrian Martinez Classic respectively. She had also posted a PR in the Mile while winning the 2015 USATF New England Indoor Track & Field Championship (4:54.07).

Most recently, Katrina claimed an impressive 12th place at the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, FL. Her result qualified her to run for Team USA at the Great Edinburgh XC meet in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she placed 21st overall in a competitive field of British and European runners.

When not training, Katie is eager to be a role model for the children of Woonsocket, and to give back to the community she now calls her home. She has fully embraced the Woonsocket community and looks forward to the next cross country season!
