NE Distance is proud to announce that veteran Katie Spratford will be competing in the 10,000m at the 2018 USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships taking place later this week in Des Moines, Iowa. Though Katie has competed at numerous USATF Cross Country Championships over the years, this will mark her first time competing at a USATF Track and Field Championship. Her time of 33:28.18, which she ran just nine days ago at the Portland Track Festival, makes her the 19th seed heading into the race.

Also competing in the 10,000m are NE Distance board member and American record holder, Molly Huddle, and her training partner, Emily Sisson. With three athletes competing, Rhode Island ties with Oregon, Massachusetts, and Michigan – three distance running powerhouse states – for the most competitors from a single state.

The race will take place at 7:00 pm CST (8:00 pm EST) on Thursday, June 21st, the first of four days of competition. The entire meet will be streamed on NBC Sports Gold with days three and four also being televised live on NBC. For more information about the meet, including the full meet schedule and list of entrants, please visit the USATF website.

NE Distance will be hosting a watch-party for the 10,000m at The Wild Colonial Tavern located at 250 South Water Street in Providence. Appetizers, drinks, and prediction-making will start at 7:00pm.  The race goes off at 8:00pm sharp!
