Application Process for Prospective NE Distance Athletes

Athletes interested in joining NE Distance are encouraged to review the information on this page and submit an application.

We will be holding information sessions in the spring both on site in Woonsocket and Providence and via Skype. Please contact us to express your interest and we will schedule the sessions based on the availability of candidates.

NE Distance, Inc. will provide a supportive environment for post-collegiate runners committed to representing their community and reaching a higher level of competition:

  • Free housing
  • A stipend for training gear
  • A travel allotment for national competitions
  • Training facilities for both indoor and outdoor workouts
  • Access to medical support

NE Distance will provide a manager to monitor workouts, but the athletes will be encouraged to follow a training plan by a coach of their choosing.

NE Distance Fellows will be matched with a local middle school to coach cross country and track programs. We are asking our athletes to commit to NE Distance for a minimum of two years.

We are looking for athletes who have their sights set on reaching national and international levels but need additional training time to achieve these goals. The character of the athlete is as important to the success of this program as his/her athletic talent.
